Week 9: Finding the Lowest Common Denominator
This week we will be learning how to find the Lowest Common Denominator of two different fractions. If our two fractions are not "like fractions" (they do not have the same denominator) we have to change the denominators before we can complete any operations. We do this by finding the lowest common denominator.

Class 1: Progress Review
In this class we will be reviewing all the topics we have already studied. These include: simplification, finding equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting with fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions.
We will be working on pages 585, 586, 605, 606 in class.
For homework, students will complete a review worksheet (attached below)

Class 4: Finding the Lowest Common Denominator to Add and Subtract
In this class we will be practicing in our notebooks. We will practice finding the Lowest Common Denominator of 2 fractions, to complete operations (addition or subtraction.)
For example:
2/3 + 3/8 =
4/5 - 1/6 =
